Porta Montana

Di epoca preromana, abbellita nei primi secoli dell'impero con il sistema a bugnato, attualmente ancora presente.
Montana secondo alcuni perché esposta ai venti di tramontana, secondo altri perché protesa verso i monti. Essa non aveva solo scopo difensivo ma soprattutto carrabile, in quanto era la porta principale della città alla quale si accedeva dalla Via Latina Superiore e la sua importanza viene messa in risalto soprattutto dal fatto che conducesse, con breve tratto, direttamente all'Acropoli.
La porta non doveva avere la stessa collocazione di quella attuale, restaurata nel Settecento ma, molto probabilmente, doveva essere arretrata verso l'interno di circa 3 m.
